How to Spot an AI-Generated Photo
- Check the hands and fingers. AI image generators still struggle here — look for extra, missing, or oddly bent fingers.
- Look closely at ears, teeth, and eyes. Blurring, asymmetry, or waxy texture in these areas are common giveaways.
- Scan the background. Text, logos, flags, and small objects often warp into nonsense or repeat in odd patterns.
- Watch the lighting and shadows. AI images frequently get reflections or shadows that don't match the light source.
- Look for skin that's too smooth or plastic-looking, with none of the texture or imperfections a real photo would have.
- Reverse image search it. If the photo is real, it likely appeared in news coverage or on a verified account — check before you share.
